Keyboard Layout

This keyboard layout differs from the default configuration Trainz is delivered with!
We recommend keeping a backup of the original `keyboard.txt` file in case you want to play other routes later.

In general, the keyboard layout is nearly identical across train series.
Notable differences are listed below.

General Controls

Key Action
A Door release – Left
S Close doors
D Door release – Right
Space Drive switch On/Off
Shift+Space Drive switch active only while held
Y Announcement: “Please board”
X Announcement: “Please stand back”
NUM 8 Unlock control desk
NUM 9 Throttle & brake lever → Drive position
NUM 2 Decrease brake
NUM 3 Increase brake
NUM + Intercom (macrophone)
F1 Enable train stop system
R Release spring-loaded brake
5 Apply spring-loaded brake
J Switch track point ahead of train
ß Camera: Look left
´ Camera: Look right
1 Camera: Cab view
2 Camera: Exterior view
Alt+H Reset camera position
F5 HUD: Hide all
F7 HUD: Hide lower-right menu
F9 HUD: Show only speed & clock in upper right

Special Keys – Series D/F

Key Action
C Display entered ELA code
Y Announcement: “Please board” / Start ELA
NUM 8 Set direction switch to forward (if throttle/brake lever is in Drive)
NUM 2 Set direction switch to reverse (if throttle/brake lever is in Drive)
NUM 5 Brake lever immediately to “Release” position
Space Drive switch toggle / Apply hold brake (when throttle/brake is in E4 & train is nearly stopped)

Special Keys – Series H/IK

Key Action
Q Central door opening (door release must be active)
